The exhibition
PM23, the cultural space launched by the Valentino Garavani and Giancarlo Giammetti Foundation, presents Orizzonti | Rosso, an immersive exhibition held in the historic Palazzo Gabrielli-Mignanelli in Rome. The show is a celebration of the legendary Red Valentino, a color that has defined the aesthetic identity of the fashion house. Far more than a chromatic retrospective, the exhibition offers a sensory and symbolic journey through the emotional, spiritual, and cultural dimensions of red. On display are iconic haute couture gowns, including Valentino’s first red dress from 1959 and his last from 2008, alongside masterpieces by major contemporary artists such as Lucio Fontana, Alberto Burri, Mark Rothko, Helen Frankenthaler, and Pablo Picasso. Each artwork interacts with the theme of red in distinct ways: burned, cut, layered, or transformed into vibrant visual energy. Mannequins inspired by Natalia Vodianova allow a 360-degree view of the garments, highlighting the masterful tailoring of Valentino Garavani, from necklines to silhouettes. For Valentino, red is a statement of style, femininity, and confidence. It’s a bold, timeless hue that transcends trends to embody strength, elegance, and personal identity.
