The exhibition
La Vaccheria in Rome hosts a major exhibition celebrating Andy Warhol. This extraordinary event offers visitors a chance to discover the master of Pop Art from an intimate and unexpected perspective. Curated by Gianfranco Rosini, the showcase differs from traditional retrospectives. It stems from an authentic biographical connection: the meeting between the curator and Warhol in Rome back in 1975. Blending iconic masterpieces with private memories, the exhibition reveals Warhol’s human side, highlighting his friendships, travels, behind-the-scenes moments, and historic collaborations that defined the 20th century. The exhibition path features a rich collection of over 150 items, including famous artworks, biographical records, and pieces by contemporary artists close to his circle:
- Pop Art Classics: the iconic Campbell’s Soup, Dollar Sign, the Kiku series, Candy Box, and legendary portraits of Marilyn Monroe, Liza Minnelli, Regina Schrecker, Man Ray, and Joseph Beuys.
- Vintage Photography: 28 original photos by Dino Pedriali, Warhol’s main assistant, capturing his Roman period and the creation of the famous Ladies and Gentlemen series.
- Renaissance Meets Pop Art: an iconic tribute to Paolo Uccello through Warhol’s reimagining of Saint George and the Dragon.
- Archives & Memorabilia: unseen personal documents, working stencils, and original letters exchanged with icons like Mick Jagger, Elizabeth Taylor, and Truman Capote.
- Multimedia Installation: inside the immersive Mirror Room, the video artwork “Female Beauty – Warhol and the Female Universe” blends captivating projections with original music.
