The exhibition
From October 24, 2025, to May 3, 2026, the Scuderie del Quirinale hosts one of the most anticipated cultural events in Rome: The Treasures of the Pharaohs. Curated by Dr. Tarek El Awady, the exhibition brings together more than 130 masterpieces from Egypt’s most prestigious museums, including the Egyptian Museum of Cairo and the Luxor Museum, with a special contribution from the Egyptian Museum of Turin. This is a truly exceptional event, marking only the second time Egypt has authorized such a major international exhibition — the first being in the early 2000s at Palazzo Grassi in Venice. The exhibition is divided into six thematic sections, retracing the history, spirituality, and cultural sophistication of the Pharaonic civilization. It explores the divine power of the kings, the structure of society, the rituals of the afterlife, and the latest archaeological discoveries. Among the most remarkable artifacts are the Triad of Mycerinus, the golden sarcophagus of Queen Ahhotep, the funerary mask of Amenemope, the golden cover of Pharaoh Psusennes I, statues of Ramses VI, Sennefer, and Thutmose III, as well as royal jewelry and everyday objects that reveal the timeless elegance of ancient Egypt.
This important collaboration between Italy and Egypt stands as a shining example of cultural diplomacy, promoting the preservation and appreciation of the world’s shared heritage. A dedicated section highlights the discovery of the “Golden City”, an ancient settlement from the reign of Amenhotep III and Akhenaten, unearthed during recent excavations that shed new light on daily life and craftsmanship in the royal court.
Accompanied by a catalog curated by Dr. Zahi Hawass, The Treasures of the Pharaohs exhibition will also feature guided tours, lectures, and educational workshops, providing visitors of all ages with an immersive and engaging experience to explore the mystery, art, and grandeur of ancient Egypt in Rome.
