The exhibition
From October 17th, 2025 to February 1st, 2026, Rome hosts one of the most anticipated cultural events of the year: Dalí. Revolution and Tradition , set within the spaces of the Museo del Corso – Polo Museale at Palazzo Cipolla. This extraordinary exhibition offers a unique journey into the creative universe of Salvador Dalí, a visionary genius of Surrealism and one of the most innovative masters of 20th-century art.
Organized by Fondazione Roma in collaboration with the Fundació Gala-Salvador Dalí and under the patronage of the Embassy of Spain, the exhibition highlights the originality of the Catalan artist by exploring both his deep connection to classical tradition and his revolutionary spirit. Curated by Carme Ruiz González and Lucia Moni, with scientific direction by Montse Aguer, the exhibition unfolds across four thematic sections that explore Dalí’s dialogue with four great masters who profoundly influenced his artistic vision: Johannes Vermeer, Diego Velázquez, Raphael and Pablo Picasso.
Over 60 works are on display, including paintings and drawings, together with historical documents, photographs and audiovisual materials. The artworks from prestigious Italian and international institutions, including the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza, the Picasso Museum in Barcelona and the Uffizi Galleries.
A special section is dedicated to Dalí’s celebrated theoretical treatise 50 Magical Secrets for Painting (1948), which reveals his admiration for the technical mastery of the great artists of the past. The exhibition also explores Dalí’s connection with the world of cinema: thanks to a collaboration with the Rome Film Fest, visitors can discover his role as director, screenwriter and visionary experimenter of visual language.
