Until September 30 the Colosseum Archaeological Park opens its doors after dark, offering a magical experience that lets you discover Ancient Rome from a completely different perspective. A night at the Colosseum is one of the most exclusive and atmospheric experiences in Rome—ideal for history lovers, art enthusiasts, and anyone looking to see the city’s most iconic monument in a new light. The guided night tour of the Colosseum lasts approximately 60 minutes and follows a fascinating route through the first level of the amphitheater, the arena floor—which offers stunning views of the seating area—and the Colosseum underground, where wild animals, ancient machinery, and gladiators once awaited their moment on stage.The tour begins at the North Gate, historically the imperial entrance, where visitors can still admire original stucco decorations. A significant part of the visit focuses on the spectacles of ancient Rome, with insights into the venationes (exotic animal hunts) and gladiator games that captivated Roman audiences for centuries.
