For the first time in the Capital, visitors can admire the works of Francesco Corni, an archaeologist and illustrator from Modena, renowned for his extraordinary ability to reconstruct ancient Rome through technical and artistic drawings.
Curated by the Special Superintendence of Rome and the Francesco Corni Foundation, the exhibition showcases 60 artworks, many of them previously unpublished, dedicated to the most iconic landmarks of the Eternal City: monuments, historic streets, and architectural masterpieces.
This visual journey blends art and scientific storytelling, celebrating drawing as a powerful tool to narrate the history and architecture of ancient Rome. A unique opportunity for those eager to discover the city from a fresh perspective and explore the timeless connection between past and present.
The exhibition unfolds in two main sections. The first one explores the city’s archaeological heart, from the Capitoline Hill to the Forum Boarium. The second one delves into key themes such as water, Roman baths, public spectacles, major construction sites and ancient building techniques, featuring landmarks like the Vatican Basilica. At the center of the exhibition, sixteen selected drawings highlight the artistic and personal significance of Corni’s work.
The event also offers the chance to discover the unpublished volume “Rome, the Places of Power”, presented on May 2 with the participation of renowned experts in archaeology and art history. An unmissable event for all lovers of art, culture, and archaeology in Rome.
