Museum of Illusions

Live a unique experience and visit the Museum of Illusions in Rome. Between tricks and optical illusion games, fun is guaranteed.

The Museum

Science, physics and optical illusion games. The Museum of Illusions has landed in Rome to entertain adults and children, revealing the deceptions of the mind and using the five senses. Created in Zagreb in 2015, the project was then exported all over the world. Rome is the second city in Italy, after Milan, to have an office. It is an interactive space located near the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, where it is possible to approach science and puzzles of the mind.

Visitors are invited to experiment and play with their creativity, doing what is not allowed in most museums. Camera becomes the fundamental tool for fully enjoying the journey into the unexpected, then posting the shots on social media.

The route, which lasts about an hour, begins with a tribute to Rome: the giant face of the Roman poet Trilussa follows the visitors’ journey with his gaze. The more than seventy attractions, which include both unusual rooms and original installations, are arranged on a single floor.

Rooms

In the mirror room you can play with your own reflection, in the vortex tunnel you try to stay in balance, in the rotated room you challenge gravity with its laws. And again, in the Ames room you can zoom in and out or try the “head on a plate” and hidden body trick. Finally, the museum of illusions in Rome offers two exclusive attractions: the symmetry room, which seems like a whole room, even if in reality you can only see half of it, and the RGB room where you can play with 3 shadows of different colors.
