The exhibition

Picasso. The language of ideas will be host at Museo Storico della Fanteria from October 4th, 2025 to January 25th, 2026. Rome is getting ready for one of the most anticipated cultural events of the season. This unmissable exhibition showcases more than 100 works including graphic art, ceramics, photographs, and original pieces that celebrate the creative genius of Pablo Picasso. Curated by Joan Abellò, with Marco Ancora and Carlota Muiños, the exhibition is divided into six thematic sections retracing Picasso’s artistic journey:

  • Picasso, Friends and Women
  • Linoleum Prints: A New Discovery
  • Le Tricorne
  • The Last Period: Côte d’Azur, Photos and Exhibitions
  • Carnet de A Coruña, 1894-1895
  • Minor Arts and Experimentations

The exhibition offers a comprehensive look into Picasso’s creative universe: from stylistic evolution to cultural influences, from collaborations and friendships to the recurring themes that shaped his work. Among the highlights are the aquatint series Sable mouvante, drawings for the Spanish ballet Le Tricorne, iconic photographs by Edward Quinn and André Villers (including the famous 1957 portrait of Picasso posing as Popeye), along with unique ceramics and rare paintings such as Smoking Woman (1906–1907) and Lush Landscape (1930). Picasso. The Language of Ideas is produced by Navigare srl, with the support of the Italian Ministry of Defense and Difesa Servizi S.p.A., under the patronage of Regione Lazio, the Municipality of Rome, Instituto Cervantes, and Ciu Unionquadri.
