Cartier and Myths at the Capitoline Museums

Cartier and the Myth at the Capitoline Museums: the extraordinary exhibitions celebrating the timeless connection between Rome and the Maison.

The exhibition

Set within the magnificent halls of Palazzo Nuovo (Capitoline Museums) from November 14, 2025 to March 15, 2026, Cartier and the Myth is a fascinating journey through art, history, and fine jewelry. The exhibition showcases some of the most exquisite masterpieces of the Maison Cartier, many from the Heritage Cartier Collection, displayed alongside classical works from the Albani Collection and precious artifacts of exceptional historical and artistic value.
Curated by Bianca Cappello, jewelry historian, together with archaeologist Stéphane Verger and Claudio Parisi Presicce, Superintendent of the Capitoline Museums, the exhibition offers visitors a captivating experience that blends aesthetics, art and memory. This is the first time the Capitoline Museums host an exhibition dedicated to the legendary French maison, highlighting the strong artistic and cultural bond between Cartier, Rome and Italy.
The exhibition explores the influence of classical antiquity on Cartier’s creative imagination: from Greek and Roman mythology to the use of symbols and forms inspired by deities such as Aphrodite, Dionysus, Apollo and Heracles. Cartier’s iconic creations interact with the marble sculptures of Palazzo Nuovo, revealing how the beauty of the ancient world has shaped the maison’s style and craftsmanship since the early 20th century.
Designed by Sylvain Roca in collaboration with Academy Award-winning designer Dante Ferretti, the exhibition features immersive audiovisual installations, olfactory elements by Mathilde Laurent, Cartier’s in-house perfumer and a refined selection of hard stones from Cartier’s glyptic workshops.
Cartier and the Myth at the Capitoline Museums is promoted by Roma Capitale, the Department of Culture, and the Capitoline Superintendence for Cultural Heritage, in collaboration with Maison Cartier and with the support of Zètema Progetto Cultura.
An unmissable event in Rome for all lovers of timeless beauty, art history and Parisian elegance, Cartier and the Myth tells the story of how ancient inspiration continues to shape modern creativity.
