From the 15th of December 2022 to the 10th of April 2023, the Colosseum Archaeological Park presents the exhibition “The journey of Aeneas. From Troy to Rome”.

From the 15th of December 2022 to the 10th of April 2023 the Colosseum Archaeological Park hosts the exhibition “The journey of Aeneas. From Troy to Rome”.
The 24 works on display, dating between the 7th century BC and the imperial age, are divided into thematic itineraries. Among these we find the iconography of Aeneas, his father Anchises and the goddess Aphrodite; the love between Paris and Helen, the images of the Trojan War and finally, the landing in Lazio with the foundation of Lavinium.
The heart of the exhibition are the terracotta statues from the Sanctuary of Minerva in Lavinium, most of which are being exhibited for the first time.
Among the finds from the National Archaeological Museum of Naples, the Apulian crater depicting the death of the Trojan Hector at the hands of Achilles: a real example of ancient pottery dating back to 370-360 BC. Among the other loans there is the fresco found in Pompeii, where the Trojan horse transported to the city is represented.
Furthermore, during the period of the exhibition, it will be possible to attend conferences and meetings about the legendary journey of Aeneas, as well as themed guided tours along the path taken by Aeneas and Evander in the story of Virgil.
