Mario Testino. A beautiful World

Until August 25th Palazzo Bonaparte hosts the exhibition of the great photographer Mario Testino, A Beautiful World.

The exhibition

Arthemisia presents the preview of A Beautiful World project in Rome, conceived by the world-famous photographer Mario Testino. Hosted within the rooms of Palazzo Bonaparte until August 25, the exhibition is the photographic story of Testino’s last 7 years, during which he visited 30 countries taking the over 70 shots on display. A path that led him to explore different and unique cultures still alive in an increasingly globalized way. The works of A Beautiful World distance themselves from the fashion photography in which Mario Testino established himself, focusing on images of traditional clothes and costumes worn with pride by people. According to the photographer, when a country loses its connection with its history and its traditional dress, something precious is lost.

Mario Testino

Mario Testino was born in Peru in 1954. In 1976 he moved to London, where he began working for important fashion magazines such as Vogue, GQ and Vanity Fair. He is considered one of the greatest fashion and portrait photographers of recent years. His shots become legendary as do the characters portrayed: from Madonna to Naomi Campbell, from Kate Moss to Lady Diana. Some of his works are exhibited at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, at the Carpenter center for the Visual Arts in New York and at the FAAP in São Paulo, Brazil.
