The exhibition by Damien Hirst – Archeology Now at the Galleria Borghese, the art gallery of Rome inside Villa Borghese. Over 80 works by the British artist, exhibited on the two floors of the Roman museum until the 7th of November 2021.
The Galleria Borghese of Rome hosts the artworks of the new exhibition by Damien Hirst “Archeology Now”, until the 7th of November 2021. Over 80 works by the British artist exhibited next to the permanent collection of the museum of Galleria Borghese, which boasts the most important sculptures by Bernini and Canova.
The project, made possible thanks to the support of Prada, stems from a previous research by Damien Hirst himself entitled Treasures from the Wreck of the Unbelievable, presented in Venice in 2017. Its originality lies in the use of different materials, including coral, marble, bronze and rock crystal, all worked with great technique and skill.
The exhibition includes also the Color Space series dating back to 2016, development of the famous Spot Paintings by Damien Hirst himself and the sculpture Hydra and Kali, found in the outdoor space of the Secret Garden of the Bird House.
Damien Hirst was born in Bristol in 1965 and studied Fine Arts at Goldsmiths College in London from 1986 to 1989.
Since 1987, over 90 personal exhibitions have been organized in the most important museums in the world, including the Qatar Museums Authority, ALRIWAQ Doha (2013-2014); Palazzo Vecchio, Florence (2010); the Oceanographic Museum, Munich (2010); the National Archaeological Museum, Naples (2004); Palazzo Grassi in Venice (2017).
